Homelight® Plus Windows Installation Project in Dulwich

In Dulwich, Lightfoot Windows completed a Homelight® Plus steel window replacement designed for a conservation-area home where maintaining the original exterior character was non-negotiable. The brief was to swap out the existing single-glazed windows for modern, energy-efficient double glazing while keeping the external appearance like-for-like, in line with local conservation expectations.

The chosen system was Crittall Homelight® Plus. Crittall describes Homelight® as a modern take on a classic steel window, combining slim profiles with improved thermal efficiency and modern security. For heritage and conservation settings, Crittall highlights the importance of protecting original sightlines and glazing patterns, while noting that a true single-glazed like-for-like replacement is rarely practical for today’s insulation needs.

To support approvals on sensitive elevations, Crittall also notes it can provide product data and detailing for conservation review, with like-for-like replication options and collaboration with conservation officers. Modern seals and thermally improved steel profiles help reduce draughts and heat loss while keeping the period look intact.

Finished in RAL 9911 as specified for the project, the new windows deliver a refined steel aesthetic that respects the original elevation, but with the day-to-day comfort benefits of contemporary double glazing—achieving a sympathetic upgrade without compromising the property’s conservation-led appearance.
